FWBC Members Compete at the Houston Yacht Club Regatta

October 23rd, 2014 by admin

Two boats from the FWBC recently competed in the Heritage Cup Regatta on October 18th and 19th, graciously hosted (annually) by the Houston Yacht Club (HYC). One boat was a J-70 (campaigned by Skipper Jason Bradley and crew – Jim Mitchell, John Hardesty, and Rob Karov) and the other was a J-22 (with skipper Brit Feik, including son Collin Feik and Jim Jay).

Overall, both boats had, let us say, variability in their performance from race to race in the regatta, but both also demonstrated that some of that variability could also include some very decent finishes (including some 3rd place showings – and yes, if you are inquiring, many more than three boats participated in each race). In fact, a number of finishes included toping several national champions and other accomplished sailors. But if you are one that thinks everyone deserves a trophy and all this hard racing should just be for good fun, rest assured, there was lots of that had as well – our hosts at the HYC were very gracious hosts and provided for an excellent experience and facilities, decent grub and libations, and they even called up near ideal weather and sailing conditions for the regatta.

Now stay tuned for more fun at the upcoming J-Fest, hosted by Lakewood Yacht club in Houston.
