Jr. Ol' Man of the Seas - Recap

Jr. Ol Man Logo

The Junior Ol’ Man of the Sea Regatta once again lived up to its reputation as one of the most anticipated events on the Youth TSA circuit. This year’s event brought together an impressive 114 sailors across Optis, ILCAs, 420s, and FJs for a weekend filled with competitive racing, fun activities, and plenty of camaraderie.

Saturday delivered breezy conditions, setting the stage for exciting racing and keeping sailors on their toes. After a full day on the water, the fun continued onshore with the always-popular slide and some sweet cotton candy to keep their energy up. Sunday brought lighter winds, resulting in fewer races, but the day was capped off in true Ol’ Man fashion with delicious burgers and hot dogs followed by an awards ceremony to celebrate the weekend’s efforts and achievements.

A huge thank you to all the sailors, families, volunteers, and race committee members who made this event possible. The Junior Ol’ Man continues to be a highlight of the TSA calendar, and this year was no exception!

FWBC Junior team's busy fall season ahead

Our Junior Team has been hard at work all year, competing in major travel events and proudly representing Fort Worth Boat Club across the country. After a summer packed with regattas, including the USODA Nationals and ILCA 4 World Championships, our FWBC junior sailors are continuing their momentum this fall with more big events on the calendar.

First up, our advanced Opti racers are headed to Wisconsin to sail on the home waters of the legendary Buddy Melges at the Geneva Lake Sailing School. The USODA Midwest Championships will be another major milestone for our sailors as they test themselves against strong national competition. We’re thrilled to see FWBC and North Texas represented at such a prestigious regatta!

Opti practice

Closer to home, the team will also continue racing on the Youth TSA Circuit with two exciting stops left on the schedule.

Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club will host the Pirates of the Corinthian on October 10 and 11. A super fun regatta combining competitive racing with a lighthearted theme. Volunteers, parents, and even sailors get into the spirit by dressing up, and it’s not unusual to see pirate decorations making their way onto the boats. It’s a fun, festive event that junior sailors look forward to every year.

ILCA Practice

The Youth Circuit season wraps up at Rush Creek Yacht Club, where sailors will take part in Chocopalooza and the USODA Mid-Americans. This regatta is known for both its top-tier Opti racing and its sweet side, highlighted by the famous chocolate fountain that keeps everyone coming back for more. It’s the perfect mix of high-level competition and community celebration to close out the season.

We’re so proud of all our junior sailors for the hard work and dedication they’ve put in this year, and we can’t wait to see them finish the season strong at these upcoming events!
