Youth Sailing
FWBC's Junior Sailing Team takes home hardware from Dust Bowl Regatta

The junior team headed up to Oklahoma City last month for the Dust Bowl Regatta, a smaller event but always a fun and competitive stop on the Youth TSA circuit. Our junior sailors rose to the occasion, and every one of them came home with a trophy, a testament to their hard work and steady progress this season.
Conditions kept things interesting, with shifting breeze and even a storm rolling through midway through Day 1. The sudden wind shift made for some exciting racing and gave the sailors a chance to test their skills in changing conditions. By the end of the weekend, the team left with great results, more experience under their belts, leading into the rest of the season.

Wednesday Night J22 Series
Our J/22 Racing Circuit is currently in the Heatstroke Series, running from August 6 through September 17.

Summer Wednesday Night J/22 racing has been especially exciting, with 8–9 boats regularly lining up for close, one-design competition. It’s been a perfect mix of sharpening skills and enjoying the best of summer sailing.

The first warning signal is at 6:30 pm through September 3rd and moving to 6:00 pm starting on September 10th, so arrive early to rig and sit in on the briefing. Afterward, head to the Regatta Bar to relax, swap stories, and close out the evening with friends.

FWBC Sailors' Representing Abroad

In July, new member, Joey Holmes, represented FWBC at the RS21 Women’s Regatta at Lakewood Yacht Club, sailing with an all-FWBC crew: Chris Holmes, Sarah Francis, and Kendra Robbins.
It was the first time any of them had been on the boat, and conditions ranged from light 5-knot breezes to puffs over 20 knots. Despite the steep learning curve, RS21s having their fair share of quirks, the team steadily improved throughout the weekend, finishing 6th out of 11 boats.
Crowded mark roundings put their boat handling and spatial awareness to the test, but the crew rose to the challenge, gaining confidence with each race. Beyond the competition, it was a fun weekend on and off the water, reconnecting with familiar faces and making new friends from across the state.
Upcoming Regattas at FWBC
Jr. Ol' Man of the Seas - September 20-21

Next up on the calendar is the Junior Ol’ Man of the Sea Regatta, one of the most anticipated events of the year for the Youth TSA circuit. This regatta will bring together sailors across multiple fleets—including Optis, ILCAs, 420s, and FJs—for a weekend of competitive racing and fun on the water.
The Jr. Ol’ Man has long been a favorite among junior sailors, offering not only great racing but also the chance to connect with friends from across the state. With strong fleets expected and plenty of excitement both on and off the racecourse, it promises to be another memorable stop on the circuit.

Ol' Man of the Seas - October 3-5
The Ol’ Man of the Sea Regatta is right around the corner, bringing one of FWBC’s favorite traditions back to the water. Known for its competitive racing, strong fleets, and lively post-race socials, it’s a highlight of the fall sailing season that draws sailors from near and far.

A quick reminder: the early entry discount closes September 21 at 7:00 pm, so be sure to get your registration in soon!
This year’s event has been moved forward one week to better accommodate both the Harvest Moon Regatta and our junior sailors traveling on the TSA circuit.
We’re also excited to announce a new partnership with Kristen Holle Real Estate Group as the title sponsor for the 2024 Ol’ Man of the Sea. Their support helps make this event possible, and we look forward to a fantastic weekend of racing and camaraderie.
