Annual Sporting Clays & Social w/ Live Music Thursday, October 6

Is your team registered for the Annual Clay Shoot & Social? If not, registration is now online! Find the link below.

What is The Starboard Foundation? The Starboard Foundation is a 501(c)3 benefiting and promoting scholarships, equipment, education, sportsmanship and competition and access to those who may not otherwise be able to experience maritime activities on Eagle Mountain Lake. Currently the foundation has supported youth and adult sailing to include equipment, coaching, scholarships, awareness, transportation, and storage. The foundation is currently working to add high school fishing and environmental efforts to their support efforts.

Are there any tax advantages to supporting this event? Of course! Team Registrations, sponsorships levels, donations, and auction items are all fully tax deductible.

I’m not interested in shooting - are there other ways to support The Starboard Foundation and this event? Yes, we are always needing volunteers to help with the shoot! This is a great opportunity to support a great cause and have fun doing so. We need volunteers at each shooting station as well as some to help manage with the silent auction following the shoot. We are always looking for relevant donations for the silent auction as well as sponsorships for the event.

My business might be interested in becoming a sponsor. What sponsorship opportunities are available? We have multiple levels of sponsorships available and would be excited to include your company in the shoot. Each sponsorship level includes a logo through out the event and the opportunity to provide materials as well.

What projects has The Starboard Foundation supported over the past few years? The Starboard Foundation has provided so many opportunities to include sail boats and docks enabling collegiate and High School Sailing – for example TCU and Nolan High School have created sailing programs that have continued to grow over the past several years. Starboard has provided learn to sail boats to support FWBC’s sail camps during the summer as well as scholarships for these camps every year. In addition the Starboard Foundation has provided a truck, trailers, and ribcrafts to support a traveling team for competitive sailing at all levels at FWBC.

What is Sporting Clays? Some sort of pottery class? Not pottery, but pottery is involved! Sporting clays are a form of clay pigeon shooting, often described as "golf with a shotgun" because a typical course includes 10 different shooting stations laid out over natural terrain. Although the sport is challenging, it is quite popular with novice shooters and ordinary hunters. While many shooters opt for expensive double-barreled shotguns, the game is equally enjoyable with an inexpensive pump-action shotgun or autoloading (semiautomatic) shotgun. There will also be shotguns available for rent as well.

I’ve never shot a gun before, is this event for me? Absolutely! We actually have multiple options to introduce people to this great sport. Shotguns are available for rent, we would appreciate as early notice as possible to make sure we have one available. Retriever Sporting Clays is offering the opportunity to provide instruction and guidance on Wednesday evening, October 5th. They will plan to use the same course as the actual shoot the following day. Please contact the office if you are wanting to participate in this class as well as if you need to rent a shotgun.

Do I need to own a gun? What is included in the $1,000 / team registration? No you do not need to own a gun. There will be guns available for rent as well as 12 gauge ammunition available to purchase. The team registration fee is for five individuals for a hay ride to and from Fort Worth Boat Club to the shoot, 100 opportunities to shoot sporting clays, and a social to follow with a live band, food, and drinks. There will be additional opportunities to support this great cause and to increase your score with mulligans being available to shoot. You'll be able to purchase with cash or CC on the day of the event.

This is the 5th year of the event - How did this get started? A few members at the Boat Club had casually discussed doing this for years, taking advantage of the location of the club being in the county. When one of our members purchased a piece of property in such near proximity to the club the gears started turning and action started taking place. The shoot has done nothing but grow in participation over the past several years and has become something that people look forward to.

I hear there is a social afterwards - What are the details?

There is lunch for purchase before the shoot with the social beginning promptly after the shoot, typically around 5:00 pm and it's open to anyone. Big Mike is planning to perform from 5:00-8:00pm and food and drinks will be available!

I have a team of 5 people - How do I sign up?

Thank you for your continued support.
