The History of the Marigail Series

The Marigail Weekend Series holds a special place in the history of Fort Worth Boat Club. In the 1970s, when regular series races were scarce, Don Williamson and his brother decided to establish a race in January. They named it the Marigail Series after their yacht, a big heavy cruiser that needed ample wind to move. This inaugural perpetual annual series became the first of its kind at the club.

Since then, other members have established series, donated trophies, and named them after their own yachts. The Boat Club embraced the concept of year-round perpetual series racing and established additional series named simply after the time of the year.

Roadie Race Schedule and Principal Race Officer (PRO) Assignments

In addition to the Marigail series, next up will be the Roadie Series, comprising six races with two discards. Mark your calendars for these upcoming Roadie races:

  • Race #1: February 18 - Matt A.

  • Race #2: February 25 - Marc N.

  • Race #3: March 3 - Glenn D.

  • Race #4: March 10 - Bryan D.

  • Race #5: March 17 - James M.

  • Race #6: March 24 - Edwin Y.
